His acting might make him look as your as a 21-year-old man but the actor is 52 years old. Yes, Akshay Kumar was born on September 9, 1967, and according to the algorithm, he turned 52 years old this September. He practices karate, yoga, diet and gym to stay in shape.

Talking more about his life, he is married to the Bollywood star Twinkle Khanna. They have a son Aarav and a daughter Nitara. Akshay Kumar wants to give his children a normal childhood and not the life of celebrity kids. He is very protective of his children and keeps them at a fine distance from the limelight. He maintains a balance between his personal and professional life which can be seen by the way he does marvellous efforts in his movies and side by side gives equal time and attention to his family. Nonetheless, he never started as a child artist. Akshay Kumar focussed on his education more than anything. On the internet, his citizenship is known to have been that of Canada but he is a Punjabi Indian. Akshay Kumar was born in Amritsar, India and is currently living in Mumbai but still, he is known as a Canadian because most of his life, he stayed outside the country for his education. This is the same he wants for his children. Although Akshay Kumar doesn’t force his children to get into a particular career he wants them to have a normal life until they grow up and attain the proper education like their father.

Akshay Kumar shared a similar interest in wrestling and sports with his father. Since childhood, he was good at sports. Initially, Kumar lived with his family in Chandni Chowk, Delhi and moved to Delhi only after his father resigned from the army to join UNICEF. Akshay’s father joined at the post of an accountant in UNICEF. His father sent him to karate school to learn the art and simultaneously, he was attaining his school education from Don Bosco School in Mumbai. After the completion of his school education, Akshay Kumar enrolled himself in Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Mumbai for his undergraduate course.

Soon the actor dropped the college because of his lack of interest in studies. Akshay Kumar wanted to learn martial arts and so, he requested his father to send him to some good school for the same. Somehow his father saved enough money to send him to Bangkok in Thailand and he learnt Thai boxing there. Akshay stayed for 5 years in Thailand. Thailand was not an easy go for Akshay. While learning martial arts in Bangkok, he had to work as a waiter and chef to make both ends meet.

Early Career

After the completion of the course, he was being asked about his interests for his career and he clearly told his father about his desire to become an actor. The choice was a difficult one and to arrange some money, he went to Kolkata and worked in a travel agency. Akshay also worked in a jewellery shop for a while and sold jewellery. After that, he started his own school for martial arts teaching.

There was a good crowd at the school. One of his student’s father suggested him to become a model and guided him through a shoot for furniture. He earnt a good fortune in the first two days of shoot and therefore, chose to model as his primary career. He worked under a photographer for free just to get his first portfolio done.

Bollywood Career &  Movies

Akshay Kumar was set up for an interview for modelling but sadly he missed his flight and went to the other director hopelessly. This was the start of his career because he was signed for the movie ‘Deedar’. Akshay Kumar’s first movie was Sugandh where he was a lead actor opposite Shantipriya and Raakhi.

After that, he acted in Deedar and since that movie, Akshay Kumar’s career in acting and modelling took flight. His most famous movies are Suhaag, Elaan, Yeh Dillagi, Main Khiladi Tu Anadi, Mohra, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladiyon ke Khiladi, Namastey London, Kesari, Holiday- a soldier is never off duty, Gabbar is Back, Brother, Rustam and Airlift.

Clearly, Akshay did well with the Khiladi series. He then acted in Khiladi 786 which was also a commercial hit. In the movie, he appeared opposite Asin. He acted in many comedy movies including Welcome, Housefull, Housefull 2, Housefull 3 Rowdy Rathore, Singh is Bling, Singh is King, Desi Boys, It’s Entertainment and The Shaukeens.

Covering Social Issues In Movies

These days, the actor is focusing on the major issues of society and is acting in the related movies only. Some of his blockbusters include Padman, a movie where Akshay Kumar makes sanitary pads for his wife because the packaged ones are expensive. In this movie, he is playing the role of a villager. This movie shows the condition of women during their periods in villages.

Akshay Kumar puts light on it and through his hard work and dedication, shows the audience the right way to act whenever a woman is on her period. His other movie was Toilet- Ek prem Katha. In the movie, again we get to know the condition of villages where girls/women are not provided with toilets in their houses. Everyone goes to the fields and this is humiliating. People have fake observations and beliefs that having a toilet in the house will make the house impure. Akshay Kumar showcases this in his movie and tells us the right path again.

OMG movie shows the false belief of different religions. In the movie, everyone is preaching their own gods and mankind is left behind. Gods and their portraits are being sold and sanity is being bought. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Lord Shri Krishna and is a hypothetical character in the movie. All through the movie, he gives the lesson that all gods are equal and all religions are equal too. The devotional is in our hearts.

One of his best hits was 2.0. It was the sequel to Robot by Rajnikanth. With this movie, Akshay Kumar set foot in Tamil movies.

The Housefull series was such a hit that it’s sequence Housefull 3 is releasing soon in 2019. Another big hit, Mission Mangal is also expected this year. His other upcoming movies are Sooryavanshi, Laxmmi Bomb, God News and Prithviraj.

Akshay Kumar has won 2 Filmfare awards out of 13 nominations. In 2009, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the government of India. Soon he won the Asian Award for his outstanding performance in Indian cinema. Akshay Kumar had also won the National Film Award for best actor.
