The best thing about Dark TV Series is that it is much away from gossips and possible spoilers. Though many tabloids tried to infer its storyline, it has surprised them all.

Judging by the Dark season 3 official Tagline “The end is the Beginning”, it is possible that many of the story arcs will find their conclusion where they all started (from viewer’s perspective). And hence here’s a quick followup on all the timelines and major plotlines till now:

Dark – 1921 Timeline Plot:

World War I is still in recent memory and Winden is little more than a farming village surrounded by fields. The imposing wooden church is being built, but strange things are already starting to happen there. A cult, led by the mysterious Adam, seems to be meeting in secret rooms beneath the church. Something’s going on in the forest surrounding Winden as well: A tunnel is being drilled into the rock of the caves.

Dark – 1953/1954 Timeline Plot:

The German Wirtschaftswunder is in full swing and the small town of Winden has a bright future ahead. It has been selected as the site for the first German nuclear power plant. Plans for a new housing development are also in the works. The ambitious businessman Bernd Doppler is the driving force behind plans for the power plant. When the bodies of two strangely-clad children are discovered on the building site, he suspects someone is conspiring against him. Shortly thereafter, his own son disappears and the Winden police start an investigation.

Dark – 1986/1987 Timeline Plot:

Kids ride past the newly built Winden School on BMX bikes and mopeds, snacking on Raider chocolate bars and listening to “99 Red Balloons” on their walkmans. Winden is a typical small West German town – and completely dependent on its single largest employer: the nuclear power plant. In the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster, the plant has attracted a sudden wave of criticism, putting pressure on its new director Claudia Tiedemann. The disappearance of Mads Nielsen in October 1986 contributes to a growing sense of uncertainty.

Dark – 2019/2020 Timeline Plot:

The end is nigh in Winden: The nuclear phase-out has been decreed and the Winden power plant is scheduled to close down in the summer of 2020. It seems as though the town is falling apart: an eerie mood prevails amongst the demoralised residents. A man committed suicide in the summer of 2019. In the autumn of the same year, several children and adults vanished within weeks of one another.

Dark – 2052/2053 Timeline Plot:

Winden is a ghost town. The nuclear power plant is in ruins and surrounded by a contaminated restricted zone. The cemetery is filled with makeshift wooden crosses, a sign of past catastrophe. The few people remaining live in the forest around the town and are organized into a regimented rebel group.
