Good Omens Season 2

Good Omens originally Premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 31, 2019. BBC 2 aired the series weekly for UK viewers, between January 15 and February 19, 2020.

Amazon’s Good Omens is based on the 1990’s novel by English authors “Terry Pratchett” and “Neil Gaiman”, titled “Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch”; which was nominated for the best Novel award at the “1991 World Fantasy Awards” (Lost to Only Begotten Daughter by James Morrow & Thomas the Rhymer by Ellen Kushner).

Season 1 follows the stories of the book to the core (except for some side plots) and concludes as a self-sufficient stand-alone miniseries. But “Neil Gaiman” has revealed on multiple occasions that he and his late co-author “Terry Pratchett”, did actually planned a sequel to the Book.

The sequel was supposed to delve further into the existence of Angels & Demons. The character of “Archangel Gabriel” played by “Jon Hamm” was actually borrowed from the sequels plot, it don’t actually featured in the published book.

While season 1 was a result of Passion, struggle and determination by “Neil Gaiman”, after he promised his friend and co-author “Terry Pratchett”, that he will adapt their novel, when Pratchett passed away in 2015; season 2 will entirely depend on the viewers reception and studio picking on the sequels plot.

So yes, content wise, the material exist for more than two seasons of the series. Plus the lead cast of David Tennant & Michael Sheen have already expressed their wish for a comeback for further season provided “Gaiman” comes up with a story as interesting as the first one.

David Tennant (Crowley) and Michael Sheen (Aziraphale) has reunited for a special 3-minute episode titled “Good Omens: Lockdown” on Youtube written by Gaimen himself.

Gaiman Tweets from his official Twitter handle (@neilhimself): Good Omens the book is 30. This is our present to all of you. It’s to make people happy, because too many of us are sad. #GoodOmens30

Are the duo of Angel Aziraphale & Demon Crowley coming back for a second season? Absolutely, YES. Newport born Welsh actor “Michael Sheen”, who played the role of Angel “Aziraphale” and Bathgate born Scottish actor “David Tennant”, who played the Demon “Crowley” are going to reprise their role in Good Omens season 2.

As hinted on the series finale Crowley and Aziraphale discuss the possibility of a second Apocalypse between humanity and the combined forces of Heaven and Hell. And as already discussed, the sequel will bring out more hellish and Heavenly characters. So, apart from “Michael Sheen” & “David Tennant”; American actor Jon Hamm’s character of “Archangel Gabriel” is very likely to have a major story arc.

Second Apocalypse between humanity and the combined forces of Heaven and Hell?

While introduction of more benevolent & malevolent characters in the sequel is most likely; existing characters in the published books which don’t get much screen time or storyline may actually make a proper appearances.

For example, in the published novel, four Hell’s Angels bikers meet the real-life Four Horsepersons of the Apocalypse, which are favourites characters amongst the readers; so fans are hoping that Gaiman can weave them into the sequels plot.

“668—The Neighbour of the Beast” was actually slated as the title for a sequel to Good Omens and tabloids and die-hard fans of the series are expecting the second season to be a lot more darker with the hallmark dry and witty humour.

The trailer for the second season of Amazon’s popular fantasy epic “Good Omens”, which won the “Best TV Comedy Drama” award for its debut run, is still awaited.
