Lalisa Manoban, the ‘Thai princess’ in the South Korean all girl K-Pop group called “Blackpink”, is the youngest member and lead rapper in the group. The only non-Korean member in the group, girl crush Lisa is ranked 3rd on TC Candler “The 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2019”.

Lisa was born on Thursday, March 27, 1997 in “Chum Saeng, Satuek District”, in the “Buriram Province” of Thailand, to a Thai father and a Thai mother. Blackpink Lisa (블랙핑크  리사) is her stage name, while her original Thai name is “Pranpriya Manoban (ปราณปริยา มโนบาล)”, which her parents changed to “Lalisa Manoban (ลลิสา มโนบาล)”; in accordance to her horoscope, for better fortune. “Lalisa” means ‘Honorable person’ and later she used mononym “Lisa” out of it. She had not yet chosen her Korean name but goes by nicknames like “Pok Pae”, “Laliz”, “Lalice”, amongst her close and loved ones. Lisa’s zodiac sign is “Aries” and currently she is 22 years old (as of January 2020).

Contrary to popular knowledge, both of Lisa’s parent are Thai but they got separated when she was only a few months old. Lisa is a single child and does not had any other siblings. She grew up in ‘Buriram’, Thailand’, with her mother and grandparents. Her grandparents; “Mr. Boonlong Manoban (Grandfather)”, now 90 years old and “Samak Manoban (Grandmother)”, loved her very much and helped her mother to raise her since childhood. Later her mother moved to Bangkok and there she married Swiss Master Chef “Marco P. Brüschweiler”, Lisa’s step-father, who runs a Culinary School in Bangkok, specialized in Swiss-Thai cuisine. Lisa did her primary schooling from reputed “Praphamontree School 1”, Bangna, Bangkok and then her secondary schooling from “Prapamontree 2 School”, Samut Prakan 10270, Thailand.

Blackpink’s Lisa and GOT7’s Bambam friendship (#BamLisa):

Back in Thailand, when Lisa was only 11-12 years old, she was a part of eleven member Thai children dance troupe called “We Zaa Cool” along with “GOT7’s BamBam” and “NCT‘s Ten”. All three Thai K-Pop idols are childhood friends and maintained a close friendship even now; especially Lisa and Bambam, as their family are also said to be close to each other. BamBam once revealed in an interview that he calls ‘Lisa’ “noona (누나)” even though they’re about the same age because she used to be taller than him when they were kids. In September 2009, “We Zaa Cool” entered the “LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World” competition, which was broadcasted on Channel 9 in Thailand and won the “Special Team” Award.

In 2010, Lisa, being a K-Pop fan herself, casually auditioned for “YG Entertainment’s” Thailand auditions. There were 4,000 other participants but Lisa was the only talent which was accepted. She officially joined “YG Entertainment” on April 11, 2011, as the labels first non-Korean artist. She trained with “Jisoo (지수)”, “Jennie (제니)” and “Rosé (로제)” for 5 years and 3 months before debuted with all new K-Pop group titled “BLACKPINK” in 2016.

On the other hand Bambam became a “JYP trainee” in the same year (2010) but debuted with his boy band GOT7 in 2014, two year earlier than Lisa.

In 2013, Lisa appeared “TAEYANG’s – RINGA LINGA (링가 링가) music video. During their training all four Blackpink member’s had learned foreign language especially English and Japanese and Korean for Lisa, so she is a polyglot speaking four languages English, Korean, Japanese and Thai. They even took dance training in japan.



Blackpink, the South Korean girl quartet, was the first girl group to debut under “YG Entertainment” in six years after K-Pop group “2NE1”.

The talent hunt audition’s four winners became the four members of “Blackpink”, which were “Jisoo (지수)”, “Jennie (제니)”, “Rosé (로제)” and “Lisa (리사)”. They all debuted with their single album “Square One” on 8th August 2016. Blackpink’s K-pop fandom is known as “BLINK”.

The K-Pop group has since made its special place among the K-Pop fans, both in Korea and Internationally. All its songs break into the K-Pop top charts. Recently it’s June 2018 released music video titled “BLACKPINK – ‘뚜두뚜두 (DDU-DU DDU-DU)’ M/V” became the first K-Pop group song to enter the YOUTUBE’s “billion views club”, with 1,045,398,504 views, beating the likes of much loved K-Pop boy band BTS, which has their song “BTS (방탄소년단) ‘DNA’ Official MV” still in chasing with 898 Million views; giving nudge to the ongoing “BLACKPINK Vs BTS” war. The group also made history when it was named in “TIME Magazine’s (100 Next) most influential” in 2019, and was also the “first female K-pop group invited to perform at the Coachella” music festival.

In 2019, BLACKPINK Lisa Becomes the New Brand Presenter for “AIS Thailand”, the largest GSM mobile phone operator in Thailand. She is also a model for ‘YG’s clothing line’ “NONA9ON” and ‘make up line’ “Moonshot”. Lisa has been on “TC Candler’s” “The 100 Most Beautiful Faces in the world” list since 2016, gradually climbing up in the rankings [In 2016 (rank 41), 2017 (rank 15), 2018 (rank 9), 2019 (rank 3)]. Lisa started her personal Instagram (@lalalalisa_m) in June of 2018, as per her fans huge demand, and since then seen an exponential increase of followers in this social media, creating numerous new records.

First she officially broke the record of “The most followed K-pop artist on Instagram”, in April of 2019, within just 10 month, when she reached 17.4 million followers, snatching the crown from “EXO’s” Chanyeol (찬열).

Then within a month in May 2019, she became the “First K-pop artist to hit 20 million followers” on Instagram. Lisa currently (in January 2020) holds the title of “Most followed K-Pop idol” as well as “The most followed Thai celebrity” on Instagram.

By the end of year 2019, Lisa recorded yet another feat to her name when she became “The first and only K-pop Idol to gain 1 billion likes on Instagram in a year” (for 2019).

So let’s dive into some more details about Blackpink Lisa’s Instagram account, her followers and popularity.

Two unique stats pop up about her Instagram, that’s quite opposite to popular belief; first though she is a South Korean K-Pop singer and was born in Thailand but it’s fans from Indonesia that holds first place in terms of most no of followers. A whopping 26 % of her followers are from Indonesia, followed by 7% from Thailand, then 6% from USA and 5% from Philippines and Korea respectively.

Secondly out of her 28 Million followers around 73% are females while the other 27% are male population. Her female following is dominated by young girls in the age group 18-24 (40%), followed by 22% female fans above age 25 and the rest are teens below the age 18. Similarly her 27% male following falls in the age group 18-24 (14%), below age 18 (13%) and 25-34 (7%).

On an average Lisa posts 7 Instagram post a week and each of her post receive tons of love from her followers. She receives on average around 3-4 Million likes and 25K comments on each of her post.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa is the global beauty brand ambassador for Korean “Moonshot” cosmetics, which was launched by YG Entertainment and Lisa signature products will be promoted to SEA countries, with special emphasis on Thailand. And so she promotes these products (@moonshot_korea and @moonshot.thailand) through her official Instagram.

Other Blackpink member are also just behind Lisa in terms of number of followers. Jennie’s (제니  인스 ) first Instagram (@jennierubyjane) has 23.3 million fans while her secondary personal Instagram (@lesyeuxdenini) has 1 million followers, while Rosé (로제  인스 그램) has 21.1 million followers on her official Instagram (@roses_are_rosie). Jisoo (지수  인스 ) comes just behind her with 12.7 million followers on her official Instagram (@sooyaaa__).
