Tara Sutaria Family Details

Her Father’s name is “Himanshu Sutaria”, who is a Computer Hardware Professional. Her Mother “Tina Sutaria” is a certified personality development instructor, who trained under renowned etiquette trainer “Jenny Rae”.

Currently she works as an Image consultant and also provide course on household management from her home in Pali Hill, Mumbai.

Her Sister “Pia Sutaria” is just as multitalented as she is. Tara and Pia both are twin sisters and shares the same birthdate (19th November 1995).

Pia sutaria has won “Reina Petite India Intercontinental 2016” title at the “Abraxas Goddess of Beauty 2016” contest, held in Goa.

She then represented India at “Reina Petite Intercontinental 2016” contest in August 2016, held in San Jose, Costa Rica and became the first ever Asian and Indian contestant to win this international pageant title.

Tara Sutaria and her twin sister Pia have started learning classical ballet since they were 5 Years old, under the guidance of late “Trushna Dallas” at the “School of Classical Ballet and Western Dance” in Mumbai.

Tara Sutaria Education / Scholarship

She then bagged a full scholarship to learn dance at the “Royal Academy of Dance” in London, UK and was trained in various dance forms including classical ballet, modern dance and Latin American dance.

She then studied at the I.S.T.D (Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing) in UK. Returning to Mumbai, she learned other dance styles like jazz, contemporary from “Danceworx Dance School” in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Dancing is just one of the facet of the multitalented Tara Sutaria. She has also been singing at operas and competitions since she was 7 Years old.
She has performed solo opera concerts not just in India but in different parts of the world like London, Tokyo etc.

Tara has also been recording music for films and TV ads as well as creating some own original work. Till now she has collaborated with many well-known composers like Gino Banks, Louiz Banks, Tony Lakatos and Mikey McCleary.

She has also lent her voice in some of the Bollywood movies like Aamir Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par”, Hritik Roshan’s “Guzaarish” and “David”.

She has been a soloist for the “Stop-Gaps Choral Ensemble”, singing at the NCPA (National Centre for the Performing Arts) in Mumbai for over a decade.

She did her schooling from “Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls’ High School”, Pali Hill, Mumbai, and her graduation in F.Y.BMM (Bachelor of Mass Media) from “St. Andrew’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce”, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Her sister Pia Sutaria also graduated from the same college in “Bachelor of Management Studies”.

In 2008, she was one of the top contenders in the “Pogo Amazing Kids Awards-2008” in the singer category. Her sister Pia sutaria also took part in “Pogo Amazing Kids Awards”, a year earlier in 2007, as a ballet dancer.

She made her TV debut as a video jockey back in 2007-08 on the “Disney Channel India’s” program “Big Bada Boom”.

Later in 2012, she bagged lead role in their show “The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir (2012)”.The show was an Indian adaptation of the American show “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”.

Tara played the role of “Vinnie” Mishra in the show, equivalent to “Maddie Fitzpatrick”, played by “Ashley Tisdale” in the original version.

In 2013, when she was in her first year of college, she played the lead role of “”Jassie” Singh” in another Disney India’s show “Oye Jassie”.

She was also seen in an episodic role in (Season 1 Episode 24), titled “Stolen Bike”, on another popular Disney India’s show “Best of Luck Nikki”.

Back in 2009, she participated in Sony channel’s reality show “Entertainment ke Liye Kuch bhi Karega”.

She sang “Think of me” from the Broadway adaption of the thriller novel “Phantom of the Opera” in front of judges “Farah Khan” and “Anu Malik”.

In 2013, Tara was seen in yet another Indian sitcom airing on Disney Channel India, called “Shake It Up”. The series premiered on March 30, 2013 and was an Indian adaptation of the American show “Shake It Up”.


In 2013, Tara played the lead role in a stage musical titled “Grease” produced by “Raell Padamsee” and directed by “Advait Hazrat”.

In 2015, Tara Sutaria was invited at TedX in St. Xaviers Mumbai, where she performed “Phantom of the Opera’s” “Think of me” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love you” for the audience along with sharing her experience.

In 2018, Producer “Karan Johar” and director “Punit Malhotra” auditioned more than 700 girls, to find the two female leads for their upcoming film “Student of the Year 2” (SOTY-2) and has finalised Chunky Panday’s daughter “Ananya Panday” and “Tara Sutaria” for the roles.

The pair will be seen opposite actor “Tiger Shroff” and the film is set to release on May 10th 2019.
